About Us

About us should probably read "about me" right now. I have been tasting, drinking and collecting wine for many years now. For the time being, I will be the main contributor to the site, but overtime, I will encourage my generous and extremely knowledgeable wine friends to share their wisdom. I am pleased to announce the addition of Dr Brendan Jansen to these pages.

Fine Wine Club is based in Perth, Western Australia.

Barry Weinman - Director

With the surname Weinman, there was never any doubt that I would be bitten by the wine bug! It has taken a while, but I have finally got around to sharing my experiences, knowledge and tasting notes.

I have no formal involvement in the wine industry outside drinking and collecting wines, though I am the President of the Wine and Food Society of Western Australia.

For the past few years, I have been chairing (arranging and cleaning up) the tastings held for John Jens.

John has been involved in the Western Australian wine industry for more years than I have been able to drink. Besides his regular column in the Western Suburbs Weekly, John is co-owner of Lamonts Wine Store in Cottesloe, with wife Kate Lamont. I must thank John for his support over the years.

Brendan Jansen - Italian correspondent

Brendan has been involved in all aspects of wine for many years now. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of wine, and a fine palate indeed. Up until recently, Brendan has been an integral part of our tastings here in Perth, but Brendan now resides in Tuscany (Italy) and is our resident Italian wine writer. Expect regular updates on tastings and news from Italy in the months to come.

Perry Clark - Editor

Perry sits quietly in the background correcting all my typos and grammatical errors. If you see a mistake on a page, it is because I did not give the page to Perry first.
